The Tar River Mission Clinic is a 501 (c) (3) faith-based, non-profit organization which supports the health care needs of low income, uninsured adults by directly providing or arranging free health care services and programs.

All of our programs are at no cost to qualifying patients and include:

  • Primary Care Medical Clinic

  • Routine Laboratory and Radiology Testing

  • Prescription Medication Assistance

  • Diabetic Testing Supplies

  • Specialty Care Coordination

  • Health Education Coordination

  • Chaplaincy Referral Program (upon patient request)

We focus on wellness care screenings and chronic disease management.  The most common conditions we see patients for include diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, lipids/cholesterol disorders, COPD, asthma and thyroid conditions.  Once patients are established with the clinic, we will also see them for minor acute care needs.  We do not offer dental care, mental health care or chronic pain management care. Prospective patients may call us to inquire whether we can treat and manage their specific health condition(s) if they are unsure.

All prospective clients are screened for eligibility before they can become a patient and must be willing to provide the clinic reasonable documentation to support the low income status of their household and their uninsured status.  We serve residents of Edgecombe, Nash, Halifax and Wilson counties.  Our clinic hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., limited Thursday evenings 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m. to Noon.  We see patients by appointment only and do not offer "walk-in" medical visits.

We are members of the North Carolina Association of Free Clinics and the North Carolina Center for Non-Profits.  We are also a United Way Tar River Region Partner Agency.  Our Charitable Solicitation License issued by the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State is SL004947.  Our IRS Form 990 is made available upon written request.  Contact us for more information.  Tar River Mission Clinic, 1041 Noell Lane, Medical Plaza B, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, 27804, 252-962-3450
